Welcoming a New Era: David Bryant Joins Waipuna Hospice as CEO
Waipuna Hospice is thrilled to announce the appointment of David Bryant as their new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). David has led a commercial health and disability business and, in his most recent role was as an executive in a large community based services enterprise. He brings with him a wealth of financial, revenue building, change management and risk experience, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills. Waipuna Hospice’s Board Chair, Debbie Pattullo says they are delighted to welcome an experienced executive of David’s calibre to lead Waipuna Hospice.
“The Board is thrilled to have David joining us as CEO and we are looking forward to working together. We are confident that David’s leadership will help guide us into a new era of community-focused hospice care in challenging financial times.”
With this appointment, Waipuna Hospice is embarking on a journey to reframe what hospice care means for the Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty community. They are hoping to enhance their care, strengthen their services, and better support their local community.
“Working alongside, and with the support of the Waipuna Foundation, we must create a sustainable future for Waipuna Hospice so we can continue to deliver specialist palliative care to our community,” explains Debbie.
This community focus was a driving factor in David wanting to become Chief Executive of Waipuna Hospice.
“I have always admired Hospice for the amazing work it does for our community, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to become part of the team,” he explains. “It was important to me that my next role was with an organisation that has a great sense of community and purpose, and Waipuna Hospice has this in bucket loads.”
Debbie says they owe a huge thank you to Becky Gardiner, who stepped in as interim CEO during their search for a permanent leader.
“Becky’s dedication and expertise have been invaluable, and we are grateful for her continued support. I am also excited to announce that she will be continuing with Waipuna Hospice in a new senior leadership role, Chief People & Engagement Officer.
Becky has been with Waipuna Hospice for over 10 years and is looking forward to this next chapter.
“It has been such a privilege to step in as Interim CEO and ensure that our patients and their whānau continued to receive the care and support they deserved during this transitional period. I’m absolutely thrilled to take on my new role and continue my career with Waipuna Hospice. Waipuna Hospice holds a special place in my heart and I feel honoured to be part of an organisation that makes such a positive impact in so many lives.”
As Waipuna Hospice navigates this exciting transition, they invite their patients, families, donors, volunteers, and the entire local community to join them. Together, they hope to transform perceptions of hospice care into a journey filled with meaning and dignity and deliver community focused care where every moment counts.
