Who can get care from
Waipuna Hospice?

We provide interdisciplinary specialist palliative care for patients alongside the care provided by their GP and specialist teams. Here’s a general idea:

  • Patients with a serious illness that can’t be cured (or who choose not to receive treatment).
  • Patients with complex issues like pain management, emotional distress, social problems, or spiritual concerns.
  • Patients who need more support than their primary doctor can provide.
  • Patients with NZ residency or reciprocal rights and a local GP
  • Patients under 18 with paediatric specialist support (if applicable).
  • Patients with non malignant disease must have proof of end-stage disease (if applicable).

Waipuna Hospice offers extensive training programs in palliative care for staff, volunteers, and health professionals. Since 2011, we have been accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians to provide specialist training for medical registrars.
