Family/Whānau Education Sessions

Waipuna Hospice is presently running a series of Family/Whānau Education Sessions that are designed to provide information and support to family members and caregivers who are looking after a loved one.

We have five different sessions. You can choose to attend one or all five, whichever works for you best.

We understand it can be difficult to leave the house when caring for someone at home so if you do need support with transport or with care for your loved one while you are away, please let us know, one of our volunteers may be able to assist.

The workshops are held here at Waipuna Hospice as follows:

Ways of Getting Support
Community support, planning future care, financial support and caregiver support.

Practical Strategies
Equipment and safe handling, mindful breathing, self care and small goals.

Caregiver Well Being
Anticipating grief, how to stay connected, coping strategies and legacy work.

Essentials for Care at Home
Personal hygiene, mouth care, skin care, pressure areas and caring for someone in bed.

Planning for Change
Medication navigation, advancing illness and signs of deterioration.

We run multiple sessions throughout the year. To find out when the next workshop is running, or to book your spot, please email education@waipunahospice.org.nz or call 07 552 4380 ext. 206
