Foundations of Spiritual Care – Ngā Mātāpono O Te Manaaki Wairua
Professional Development Programme
The Foundations of Spiritual Care workshops are about starting the conversation. They are aimed at those working in a clinical setting to improve our understanding of connection, wairua & spiritual care for those at the end-of-life. It helps us demystify end-of-life conversations and help us understand how spiritual wellness plays a part in quality of life for patients and their whānau.

The expected benefits:
- Patients, families and whānau have their spiritual needs recognised and met
- Increase our knowledge of the fundamentals of te ao Māori & Whanaungatanga
- Understand how to use Te Whare Tapa Whā as a fundamental part of holistic care
- Develop spiritual literacy and shared understanding of connection & spiritual care
- Enhance holistic practice as a part of our overall care plan

Kia hora te marino
Kia whakapapa pounamu te moana
Kia tere te kārohirohi
I mua i tōu huarahi
Ara nei ake tonu atu
May calm be widespread,
May the sea glisten like greenstone,
May the shimmer of sunlight guide
your pathway of life
Now and always
